FarmerNet (
www.farmer.lk) is a mobile -
online trading platform to support small farmers in rural Sri Lanka.
It enables SMS text based information uploading to
www.farmer.lk site.
Farmers and traders can upload their selling or buying information.
Working as a 'spot trading platform', FarmerNet automatically checks
the matching parties (i.e. sellers and buyers) and inform them via
SMS messages to their mobile phones.
FarmerNet is a product of Sarvodaya-Fusion
(
www.fusion.lk).
It primarily targets the small farmer beneficiaries supported by
micro-finance program of Sarvodaya Economic Enterprise Development
Services (SEEDS -
www.seeds.lk). Empowerment of small farmers
is the goal of the FarmerNet.
